On-AiR is a two year workshop program on artists in residence opportunities and mobility, developed by Trans Artists in partnership with 17 countries in Europe. For the coming On-AiR kick off seminar in Amsterdam on the 20-21-22th of May, Trans Artistists invites Dutch AIR organizations to team up for a network meeting.

January 28th SICA released Dutch Mountains, a new cultural magazine about the reflection on Dutch culture by artists and proffesionals in the cultural field. The presentation was part of a debate about hospitality, tolerance and artist-in-residence programs and took place at Smart Project Space (Amsterdam).

Residence opportunities for writers and translators
September 15th 2009, the meeting space at the Dutch Society of Authors in Amsterdam was packed with writers and translators. They listened to first-hand experiences of being an author-in-residence by writers Erik Lindner, Willem Melchior, Rashid Novaire, and translator Jeanne Holierhoek.

March 2009 / Hotel MariaKapel recently joined the freeDimensional network. Working as a connector between organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights watch on the one hand and Artist-In-Residence venues at the other hand, freeDimensional works to provide resources and safe haven for oppressed artists and culture workers.
RAiR #1 exhibition
February 2009 / RAiR, -the new foundation by international guest studios Bad Foundation, Duende Studios, Kaus Australis, Kunst & Complex and Het Wilde Weten, proudly presents RAiR#1. The exhibition brings together the work of twenty-one visual artists who were artists in residence in Rotterdam between 2003 and 2009.

Joined artist-in-residence forces in Rotterdam
RAIR is the name of the brand new foundation by international guest studios Bad Foundation, Duende Studios, Kaus Australis, Kunst & Complex and Het Wilde Weten. These artist’ run studio buildings join forces, aiming at a cooperation between their different residency programs in order to maximize their potential and to create a platform for international artists in Rotterdam and beyond.

HMK The new lobby
On December 14 2008, Hotel Mariakapel, a residency in the scenic old town of Hoorn, put on a new dress. Besides the refurbishment of the bedrooms, livingroom and office, HMK presented her new year program The Future is Near. And there is more to celebrate, - the publication Appendix - Book Hotel Maria.

Citymix plans AIR in Amsterdam
July 2008 / Artist organization Citymix is looking for creatives who want to live and work in a yet to be built complex in Almere Poort, 20 min. from Amsterdam station, who are interested in co- developing and organizing a residency program on site.

AIR on at Wiels
June 2008 / Artist-in-residency program of Wiels in Brussels has started! Wiels offers 9 individual studios (about 45m2 each) to Belgian and foreign artists for a 4-month period. The residency is accompanied by a program of meetings with art professionals, academicians and the local public.

Trans Artists organized the Res Artis 2008 General Meeting and Conference "Artists in Dialogue, Transforming Communities", in Amsterdam from October 9 through 11, 2008.
Arts Collaboratory offers opportunities
Nov 2007 / Arts Collaboratory is a programme for the support to visual artists’ initiatives in Africa, Asia and Latin-America. Furthermore, it aims to deepen and support exchange between the diverse initiatives (in collaboration with Dutch initiatives) and provide links with the Dutch visual art world. Arts Collaboratory is developed by two Dutch foundations: Hivos and Stichting DOEN. The programme is carried out in co-operation with the Mondriaan Foundation.
Investigation around residences NL 2005
Oct 2007 / At the beginning of 2005 Heidi Vogels and Hanna Sohier, intern with Trans Artists, started with “Around Guest Studios 2005”: an investigation into diversity in the offerings of guest studio initiatives in the Netherlands.
Art course finds guest studio: St. Joost in De Klokkenberg
Around 70 students from Akademie voor Kunst en Vormgeving (Academy for Art and Design) St. Joost worked for 10 weeks in the empty former medical centre De Klokkenberg. From 15th-17th July 2007, they will present their vision of the past, present, and future of De Klokkenberg.

Gastateliers in de stedelijke context
"Jullie hebben een sterke troef in handen!", zo begon Giep Hagoort, lector Kunst en Economie aan de HKU te Utrecht zijn verhaal aan het begin van deze expert meeting bij Stroom in Den Haag. "Maar om de rol van gastateliers in grote steden te verstevigen, zullen we eerst onze visie drastisch moeten veranderen", stelde Hagoort vervolgens.
Gastateliers in de landelijke context
Eindelijk rust, denk je bij een verblijf in een gastatelier op het platteland. Eindelijk tijd ook voor concentratie, vanwege de ruimte, de stilte, de natuur, de frisse lucht. Dat beeld klopt. Maar niet helemaal. De verschillen tussen gastateliers op het platteland zijn groot. Het maakt nogal wat uit of het atelier is gevestigd in een afgezonderd gelegen melkfabriek, zoals bij Stichting KiK in Kolderveen, of in een statig boerenhuis in een trots dorp, zoals Kunsthuis Syb in Beetsterzwaag. Zo bleek bij de expert meeting over gastateliers op het platteland, bij Stichting KiK in Kolderveen in mei 2006.

Marres is in ontwikkeling. We willen de overgecodeerde werkelijkheid van een presentatie-instelling ter discussie stellen en de kernfunctie - de presentatie - verrijken met inzichten die niet eenduidig door de actualiteit worden gevoed. De artist-in-residence formule kan een van de manieren zijn om tegemoet te komen aan de wens om binnen een presentatie-instelling artistiek onderzoek een plek te geven en nieuwe vormen van artistieke productie op gang te brengen.

Tussen wijk en wereld in Het Domein
Onder de naam Guestroom nodigt Museum Het Domein Sittard sinds 2005 instellingen uit om een presentatie te verzorgen. Ze zijn bij het museum te gast. We kiezen voor instellingen waarmee het museum zich verwant voelt, of voor instellingen met een (inter)nationale opdracht of werking die in de regio echter te weinig zichtbaar zijn.
Vrij Glas
Nog niet zo lang geleden stond de monumentale loods op het Hembrugterrein in Zaanstad vol bommen en granaten. Nu is dit voormalige munitiedepot de werkplaats van Stichting Vrij Glas. Het ruikt er al naar gesmolten zand: de ovens om glas te blazen, zijn onlangs in gebruik genomen.
In image we speak
Het grafiek uitwisselingsproject "In image we speak" tussen 15 beeldende kunstenaars namens Gravura Brasileira te São Paulo en 15 beeldende kunstenaars namens het Amsterdam Grafisch Atelier ging in maart 2005 van start. In het online verslag vertelt de Nederlandse kunstenaar Raquel Maulwurf over haar ervaringen.
A.I.R-'Agonism'
Hyunjin Kim (Seoul, South Korea) was the first participant at the research and curator-in-residence program of the van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven. Young international curators are invited to stay 6 months up to two years to develop new projects starting from the collection of the museum. Trans Artists asked ms. Kim about her motivs and experience as curator-in-residence.

Uitgave van de stichting Syb ter gelegenheid van het vijfjarig bestaan van galerie Hellinga, met uitspraken van en interviews met Syb Hellinga, gedichten over en brieven aan Syb Hellinga, werk van en informatie over 60 bij Kunsthuis Syb betrokken kun stenaars.
Meeting residences 2005
2/12/2005 The meeting took place at Hotel Mariakapel in Hoorn. A divers program adressed the topics of the Trans Artists research on the diversity of residences throughout the Netherlands, collaborations between residences and universities and international exchange projects.
