Artist-in-residence De Overslag in Eindhoven composed a publication about the exchange project with YYZ, Toronto, Canada. In 2008 five Dutch and five Canadian artists worked together in Toronto and in Eindhoven. The second publication is a visual report about the projects that took place at De Overslag during the last two years.

Publication guest studio Van de Nieuwe Dingen

 

Guest studio Van de Nieuwe Dingen in Tilburg concluded their ten year aniversary with a publication. With an essay by Tineke Reynders on hospitality. Available at  Leen Bedeaux (10 Euro) (language - Dutch). Van de Nieuwe Dingen guest studio now belongs to Fundament Foundation.

The inverted residency

 

 

'If collaboration is understood as an activity that makes both parties gain something (..) then the host is to look for a form of collaboration with the guest.' A story by Danielle van Zuijlen. Part I: a five year residency in Hoorn (NL). Published on the occasion of the exhibition Í know the world' at SMART Project Space (Amsterdam), 12 Jan – 1 March 2008, curated by Lise Nelleman (sparwasser HQ Berlin). 'Workplaces' in Flanders and the Netherlands

In 2005 Trans Artists studied the diversity of international guest studios in the Netherlands, in the research titled: Around Guest Studios NL.

In Flanders, international guest studios and artist-in-residence programs are also known as 'werkplaatsen', 'workplaces'. The Flemish art magazine Etcetera has produced a sketch of the landscape: “How many are there now? And what do they do exactly?”

The category 'workplaces', launched in the Belgium so-called New Arts Decree, is a flexible term which covers a multitude of art centers. Anne Dekerk and Sally de Kunst visited 13 subsidized organisations a nd made an overview of what was to be found. Etcetera

What are the current challenges for international guest studios and residence workshops in the Netherlands and Flanders? This question was central to the project “A new look at guest studios”, organized by Trans Artists and Flemish Cultural Centre De Brakke Grond in collaboration with guest studios in November and December 2007. Research into guest artists in Amsterdam 2007

Jana Kukainen (Latvia) is researching artists involved in residencies in guest studios in Amsterdam, in the framework of her masters training Arts and Heritage: Policy, Management and Education in Maastricht.

Investigation around residences NL 2005

Oct 2007 / At the beginning of 2005 Heidi Vogels and Hanna Sohier, intern with Trans Artists, started with “Around Guest Studios 2005”: an investigation into diversity in the offerings of guest studio initiatives in the Netherlands.

A.I.R-'Agonism'

Hyunjin Kim (Seoul, South Korea) was the first participant at the research and curator-in-residence program of the van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven. Young international curators are invited to stay 6 months up to two years to develop new projects starting from the collection of the museum. Trans Artists asked ms. Kim about her motivs and experience as curator-in-residence.
