Japan 'FAiR'
September 11th, 2009 Trans Artists organized a succesful - one day - Japan artist-in-residence 'FAiR' to introduce Japanese residencies and their 'J-AiR network' to the Dutch art field.

Around 50 people were present to listen to presentations by experts from Japan and the Netherlands about the Japanese artist-in-residence sector:
- Mami Odai, Sapporo artist-in-residence programme manager .
- Keiko Kadota, J-AiR Network and director of Nagasawa Art Park.
- Nene Takagishi, Senior Cultural Officer, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Tokyo.

Artists gave presentations about their experience as artists-in-residence at different residency programmes in Japan:
- Ram Katzir
- Jak Peters
- Paulien Oltheten
- Tomoko Mukaiyama
Trans Artists organized this Japan 'FAiR' in close collaboration with Mami Odai, who currently stays in the Netherlands for her research into the Dutch artist-in-residence sector. In doing so Trans Artists continues its fruitful relations with Japanese artist-in-residence organizations, which have developed over the last years, such as the artist-in-residence exchange visit in 2005. At the Trans Artists documentation centre you will find an overview of current brochures and documentation of Japanese residential art centres.
The Japan 'FAiR' included a delicious home-style Japanese lunch.
