Description
The aim of the programme is to bring the art world and the community closer to each other. The applicants are expected to present a project plan for an environmental, public or community art project, which will be realized during the residence. The main selection criteria will be the artists motivation to work within a social context, the quality of previous art and the proposal. The accepted artists will get time to practice their own art and an opportunity to co-operate with local institutions according to his/her proposal. Raumars is also calling for applications to the new "two stage residence". Curator, artist or artist group planns and starts a community art project with exhibition in 2010. Exhibition will be realized at the Lönnström Art Museum. After the first residence period artist returns to Raumars for finalizing the project and installing the exhibition in 2011. In 2010 they also welcome proposals and ideas which interact with immigrants and local people or are connected with cultural welfare, work welfare or health care.

Accommodation Information
Raumars has one appartment with 2 rooms and a kitchen located 2,5 kilometers from the city centre. There is no studio. Besides single artists a couple, small groups, families and curators are welcome.

Location
The city of Rauma is situated on the West coast of Finland, 90 kilometers north from the city of Turku. Rauma has about 38.5000 inhabitants and the area of Old Rauma is one of Unesco's World Heritage Sites. By plain: Helsinki, Turku or Tampere, by bus: from Helsinki, Turku or Tampere Airport.
