Description
Picture Berlin is a four-week program which is in between a residency and an academy, designed for emerging artists working and using the medium of photography. This program gives participants an opportunity to develop their individual portfolios while immersing themselves in Berlin's multifaceted culture. Picture Berlin is a unique artist-initiated program which encourages participants to develop an individual approach to the photographic medium by offering close mentoring from internationally practicing artists. Picture Berlin is designed to be urban and mobile, actively encouraging the participants to use the city as a resource with a rich program of workshops exploring the city, visiting artists in their studios, lectures, film evenings and events centered around eating and making food. In addition, each participant is given the option to do an internship with a Berlin-based artist during that period.
Technical Information
Artists are required to bring their own equipment; cameras, laptop, video cameras, tripods or any other equipment they could forsee using during the residency.

Accommodation Information
Shared housing is offered for the month of residence.
Paid by artist
Program fees, airfare, food and production costs are the responsibility of the artist. The program fee is 3,500 Euro (includes accommodation, studio, lectures, meetings and workshops, transportation within the city of Berlin, 3 German basic language classes, museum and site visits, exhibition).

Application Criteria
Acceptance of the terms of participation to the residency, applicant must be over eighteen, knowledge of English; willingness towards a collective atmosphere of learning and critiquing of each other's work, the call is open to artists from all over the world and the selected artists are required to bring their own personal equipment (camera(s), tripods, laptop etc.)
