Description
Situated at 50 km from Dakar, l'Espace Sobo-Bade is multidisciplinary arts centre created and headed by the playwright and sculptor Gerard Chenet. Its name is derived from the voodoo and means 'Welcome-Frankness'. The main activities of the Centre include courses in traditional African rhythm and dance, choreographic creations, performances of experimental theatre, initiation courses to batik technique, symposiums in ceramics and sculpture. This residency programme is also part of the Unesco Aschberg Bursaries.
