Dionysia

Description

Dionysia is an informal artist-run residency that is held every year in Iceland with hosts being a small village/villages. Every village participates maximum 2 years in a row so the residency never becomes established and is always new to the hosts. The residency is open to all art genres, design, architecture and music plus for theory based practitioners and puts great emphasis on that participants arrive ready to participate in new projects in collaboration with artists from other genres.
The group that consists of 5 to 7 individuals. The participants have to travel on their own cost to the place with a private car, bus, boat or with the help of the locals where public transport does not work anymore. Important is that the group works together to get to the place. Villages in Iceland are often remote so this is a real excursion.

Location

The location is a village in Iceland. There are usually about 100 to 1000 inhabitants and the villages are remote. The nature is extreme and beautiful. Nordic climate. The residency changes location every year. It will be kept secret until the group is formed.

Application Criteria

One can apply by e-mailing a short letter of motivation (less than A4) and a cv. 4 images/audio bits or other material that is relevant as an example of ones work should accompany the text.
