I can tell you tons of things about myself and provide personal and professional references, but for this initial snapshot I will say that I am highly focused on developing my craft (American blues piano from 1860 - 1960), fun to be around, emotionally stable and financially responsible.
WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR
I am coming to Berlin for the entire month of June and July 2010 and a week or so into August. I want to exchange my room, office and studio in my collective for your living space and creative space.
Ideally, I would like to live with several artists in a communally oriented situation. Areas of particular interest are Kreuzberg, Neukolln and Prenzlauer Berg but I am open.
Ideally, I would have daily access to a tuned piano as my practice requires.
ABOUT THE ARTS COLLECTIVE
I live in a 15 person artists collective in the Mission District. We're called Million Fishes and we've been around for almost 7 years.
The collective is located in the heart of the Mission District, a popular area with a strong Latino character (most folks are from Mexico) In the past 15 years it has also become popular with young artists and musicians. The combination makes for a lively, family oriented, cross cultural place with lots of music, parades and colorful murals.
The collective is a block from one of the major local commerce streets and near BART and buses. Two beautiful parks (Precita, Dolores)are in walking distance.
The collective is 7 years old and has a lot of internal processes for remaining functional and fun. We meet
once a week, have an internal message board and a system for paying utilities and rent on time.
There are two large kitchens and a third half kitchen and three fully functional bathrooms with showers and a fourth small toilet. We have tons of common space for shows, classes and events: a spacious gallery with floor to ceiling glass windows, a movement space, a couch strewn den / screening area and studio spaces for everyone.
ABOUT THE PEOPLE
My roommates are a diverse group of artists spanning from 23 - 36. The majority of the members are over 30 and everyone is firmly rooted in their discipline.
Most people show their work, collaborate and perform on a monthly basis and collectively and individually we are well networked into the local, Bay Area and regional arts scene.
There is a lot of experience across multiple disciplines and a strong desire to grow and exchange ideas.
My roommates are:
a designer (Jonathan), burlesque dancer (Wendy) a women's art magazine producer (Lex), a visual artist (Frank) a guy who paints on wood with fire (Walker) a dancer (Christina) a musician and instrument builder(Tyson) filmmakers (Brent, Carlos) a sculptor, singer and actor (Joel) two electronic, experimental music guys (Rich and Damon) and a visual artist and sculptor(Mary).
MY SPACES
My room is on the fourth floor (top) of the building and is 8' x 12' with windows in three of the four walls. There is a sink with running water and a small closet with a good hanging system and shelf. I have another piano in my room which is tuned, from 1904. There is a breath-taking 360 degree view which is sunny during the day and sometimes starry at night.
I also have a small office space that is on the first floor of the collective off of the main gallery space.
My third space is my studio which is in the basement near 6 other studios and a common screening room area. My studio has a desk, a keyboard and a second piano (tuned, from 1956)

1. Porapara Village residency Project:
Porapara village residency and studio is situated in south part of Chittagong city, it is very near to Patenga Saha Amanat International Airport, and Patenga Sea beach, the space for residence is an apartment with attached bathroom, kitchen and reading room. It is in middle of a typical Chittagonian village.
Studio space is a teen-shed room (22ftx12ft) with electricity, internet and one PC (only for communication) and out space also useful for work, artists can work with village people and river side or sea side too.
The villagers are familiar with artistic activity and cooperative enough.
Their is an individual Print making studio in studio campus, so artist can use it for making Aching aquatint or same kind of print related works, Studio equipped with some common headwear tools like Grinding, drilling, saw machines )
