Picture Berlin
Picture Berlin, founded in 2009, is a four-week program designed for emerging artists working and using the medium of photography. Set in Berlin, a city renowned for both its tumultuous political history and its thriving contemporary art scene, this program gives participants an unparalleled opportunity to develop their individual portfolios while immersing themselves in Berlin's multifaceted culture. This unique artist-initiated program encourages participants to develop an individual approach to the photographic medium by offering close mentoring from internationally practicing artists. Picture Berlin is designed to be urban and mobile, actively encouraging the participants to use the city as a resource with a rich program of workshops exploring the city, visiting artists in their studios, lectures and film evenings. Additionally, each participant is given the option to do an internship with a Berlin-based artist during that period.
A rigorous studio practice forms the heart of Picture Berlin. Over the course of the program, participants attend photography-based workshops led by the Picture Berlin faculty. Each workshop is rounded off by a group critique led by the faculty together with a selection of artists and art professionals. The program culminates in a group exhibition of the work produced over the month.
Picture Berlin brings each participant directly into contact with the vibrant cultural scene in Berlin, offering an intense four-week insight into the international art world as well as professional exhibition experience. The program leads the participants into the art scene through the backdoor, offering them access, information, and possibilities other institutionally based programs are unable to offer.

Artists Unlimited e.V: Guest Artist
One of the founding ideas of Artists Unlimited e. V. is to integrate a guest studio into the house, a space in which an international Artist can live and work for 3 months away from the ties of their everyday life. To give someone space and time to experiment, to dream and to work.
The guest studio is run by artists for artists, the cost of the apartment and studio is financed by the Artists Unlimited Members paying a little extra on top of their rent. The grant , in which we give the artist to live on and buy heir materials, is generated by an annual party thrown by the residents of the house. We don?t have government funding for this project. It has been self-run and self financed since 1985.
We have now had over 70 guest artists from around the world staying in the house.
The Guest Studio is made up of a large east facing studio (40m²) with lots of light, a good sized living/sleeping space (32m² ) with kitchen, washing machine and telephone and bathroom.
The house pays a grant of ? 550,- a month to buy food and materials. We do not pay for traveling expenses. ?One of the conditions of the residency is that the guest artist shall make an exhibition in our gallery during their stay.
?If work is sold the gallery takes 20% of the price. Artists coming from outside Germany need to organise the necessary paperwork for overseas sales before coming here.

19,99 ? AWARD
1, 2, 3 - FUN CLUB INITIATIVE is proud to announce the 19,99 ? AWARD. An international jury (so far: Gusti Gould Korban, Cornelia Huth, Martin Beck) that has yet to be recruited by our chief executive Tony Abstract will carefully select the finest young talent within the fine arts. A scholarship of 19,99 ? as a one-off payment is granted to the winner.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
1. The 19,99 ? AWARD is restricted to what's generally perceived as the visual arts.
2. Every artist can apply with one piece of art only, represented by one image.
3. The image should be attached as a digital file (preferably jpg) to the application.
4. Please send your application as an email to FUN CLUB or to our devoted download-boy Michel.
5. In addition to the competition entry, a portrait picture of the applicant as well as a brief vita should be attached to the application.
6. By sending the application, the artist assures that the copyright of the images sent along resides with her/him.
7. By sending the application, the artist grants FUN CLUB the right to publish all the information/material that is attached to the application here. The copyright will of course reside with the applicant.
8. Please be aware that applications that are sent in after February 13th, 2010 can not be considered for the 19,99 ? AWARD. By choosing this date as a deadline, our chief executive Tony Abstract hopes to remember his little brother's birthday.
THE FIRST RENDITION OF THE 19,99 ? AWARD
For one reason or another an award needs a (changing) theme/topic. We decided to choose BARS as the subject of the first rendition of the 19,99 ? AWARD. We believe that the bar as such is underrepresented in the fine arts given its tremendous importance. Bukowski once said: "I don't like jail, they got the wrong kind of bars in there." And we also remember Lee Hazlewood praying them bars away. Now both hairy old men are not exactly representatives of the fine arts, but that might just be the point. We might add a sincere FUCK BARS at the end of our statement, expressing our hatred towards "the topic". Please feel free to send in whatever artwork imposes itself, if it shows a race car, it shows a race car, if it is good, it is good.
LAST WORDS
Although our international jury is eager to be highly selective, we might be forced to choose the most random crap. This is for sure an advantage as well as a disadvantage of the first rendition of the 19,99 ? AWARD. It's highly possible that you're the only one sending in "something", so you really don't have to be an artist after all.

OPEN CALL FOR VIDEO SUBMISSION
VIDEOHOLICA 2010 INTERNATIONAL VIDEO ART FESTIVAL
3RD EDITION/ KEEP THE ILLUSION ALIVE
AUGUST IN ART BIENNIAL
10 ? 17 AUGUST 2010, VARNA, BULGARIA
The 3rd edition of the VIDEOHOLICA INTERNATIONAL VIDEO ART FESTIVAL 2010 will take place in the period 10 ? 17 August 2010 in Varna within the framework of the International Biennial for Visual Arts AUGUST IN ART.
VIDEOHOLICA 2010 will present a series of video art projections and exhibitions and will make presentations of well-known international video art forums and honored video artists in parallel with discussions concerning video art topics.
The 3rd festival edition will pass under the KEEP THE ILLUSION ALIVE motto.
In the process of increasingly stiffening economic spheres, multimedia, hyper realities and cybernetic culture, ?the network of simulacra? has become increasingly live phenomenon. High technologies, information, Internet, clicking, downloading, setting commands, editing memories, cutting out dreams! The art sets the issue: "Shall we use all this, or shall we transform ourselves into very it?" The "hyper reality", thus created, dictates personality?s behavior, perception and consciousness, causing loss of subjectivity. The motto of this year's festival appeals to preserving one?s identity/ authenticity in the process of mass modification and unification of the individual. The term "illusion" is the subject of many cultural, sociological, religious, philosophical and psychological studies from the time of postmodernism, and continues to be a live issue, both with positive and negative connotations. In this sense, the conservation/ preservation of the unreal is a negation of the material world and a protest against the omnipotence of information, socio-cultural and politico-economic speculations.
The decisions about the selection of the videos will be made by the 5-member jury. All the applicants, who observe the rules and the deadline, will have admission to the jury, which will take place in July 2010. The final results will be announced and sent to the applicants by e-mail by the end of July 2010. The jury will make representative selection of 20 movies. There is no submission fee.
VIDEOHOLICA 2010 open call will run until 30 of June 2010 and all applications are very welcome.

The Daet Arts Council is offering its first Artist-In-Residence (AIR) program in Daet, capital town of the province of Camarines Norte.
Daet is a small town with a very long beach hugging the Pacific Ocean, tagged as the 61st surfing destination in the world. The artist will be staying in a beach house right on water?s edge. The house sits on an 8 hectare property, an isthmus that extends from the mainland, separated from it by the course of a river, whose mouth opens into the sea right next to the house. The house has a 270 degree view of water.
Bagasbas Beach is also the site for the Bagasbas International Eco-Arts Festival, a community+artist installation festival now on its third iteration (www.bbieaf.org).
The artist will be staying at the beach house for a period of three months. Meals will be provided at the beach house by the house caretaker. The small coastal village of Bagasbas is a short walk.
Artistic production will be centered in the beach house, where the artist can work on his art right by the roar of the beach. Art workshops will be scheduled at the Our Lady of Lourdes College Foundation where the artist can communicate his methods and his vision to the community at large. Near the end of the residency, an exhibition of the artist?s production will be held in Daet. The Daet Arts Council reserves the right to choose the works that will remain and be exhibited at the later ABEM Museum.
The town of Daet is about a five kilometer bike ride away. A bike will be provided the artist for his transportation.
The artist is expected to spend for his roundtrip fares to Manila as well as all visa and other documentation necessary for his entry to the country. There is a AIR fee of US$ 3,000.00 which will contribute towards the daily maintenance of the artist as well as other preparations which will be made for his stay. The Daet Arts Council can issue the selected artist an official invitation to help the artist find any funding he needs to join this program.
Seasons are markedly demarcated in Daet, and the AIR program will be offered three times in a year, as follows:
First Period - Summer Period March-May every year
Hottest time of the year, temperatures averaging
37-38 Celsius. Best time for the beach and sea travel.
Second Period - Rainy Period June-August every year
Start of the rainy season, very wet, punctuated by
occasional typhoons
Third Period - Cool Period November-January every year
Relatively, the coolest time of the year.
The Bagasbas Beach AIR program will be curated by artist Joaquin Gasgonia Palencia.
Artists working on all media are invited to apply. For questions, please email the curator, Joaquin Gasgonia Palencia at jgp88@yahoo.com. Please put ?Bagasbas AIR? in subject heading.
